Pitik: RU1 2016

I woke up early to commute to the Mall of Asia grounds for the first leg of Runrio‘s Run United series. Yawning all the way and even falling asleep for a while on the bus, I saw the enthusiastic runners board the bus with their singlets on and fussing with their gear. I felt the familiar tingle I always get as I approached the race venue. But this time, I wasn’t running. So what the hell was I doing there?

Well, to take pictures!

I’ve always wanted to give back to the running community, so when my friend Rosalie bought a brand-new DSLR, I immediately offered my services as her personal photographer. This was also a good time to test my skills with taking pictures since photography and I don’t really get along.

I tried taking pictures of the runners early on in the gunstart, but it was still too dark, so after compensating a bit with flash, I went back to the finish line and just waited for the sun to rise. Thankfully, the pictures were decent.

During the event, I also met my friends and idols. My favorite part about running events is definitely socializing with people. Loots, shirts and medals come as second. Mileage is third. That really shows my running priorities, haha!

And with all the running around, I even managed to score some 6 kilometers!

It was a good day for the runners and me. Perfect weather and good handling of the race, as always. Nothing less than expected from a runrio event.
