If I had to describe the past two weekends, the only word I have in mind would be “run-tastic.” 2 weekends ago, I was the unofficial photographer for the Nike Women’s Half-Marathon. Read on for the gritty details.

I woke up early to commute to the Mall of Asia grounds for the first leg of Runrio‘s Run United series. Yawning all the way and even falling asleep for a while on the bus, I saw the enthusiastic runners board the bus with their singlets on and fussing with their gear. I felt the familiar tingle I always get as I approached the race venue. But this time, I wasn’t running. So what the hell was I doing there?
Christmas season is already here, as evidenced by the songs being played almost everywhere in the city. From karinderyas to grocery stores, jingles and carols are being played as people go about with their daily lives.
Christmas is also gift-giving season! So if you have some friends who are into fitness and traveling like I am, you might be thinking about what to get them this Yuletide season. Thankfully, I have compiled this short list of things that are both needs and wants for the traveling fitness buff.
Ask my friends and they’ll tell you that I’ll do almost anything to find the cheapest way to do something. Walk in the Manila heat to save a few pesos instead of taking a jeep? Yep. Eating at home before a night out with friends to avoid buying expensive food? Normal routine. This attitude of mine extends up to my clothes… most of my shirts have been gifts or freebies from joining organizations and events. So when I got into running and hiking, I had a little problem. I didn’t want to buy shoes! Here’s the story of how I managed to get by and a list of my feet-gear.
So while I’ve been Dengue-free for about two weeks already, recovering has been pretty hard. With Run United Philippine Marathon closing in, I’ve shifted my focus to running while maintaining at least one gym day a week.

Hot on the heels of the Sofitel Manila Half-Marathon, another hotel will also be having their very own fun run. The Sogo Hotel Marathon will take place on December 13, 2015 at the SM Mall of Asia grounds. Save the date! Continue reading “Takbo: SOGO Hotel Marathon – December 13, 2015”

I don’t usually blog about individual running events, but certain circumstances led to this particular run giving me a lot of feels. Feels that I think I need to somehow legibly organize in my mind. And to do that, writing them here would be helpful. So here we go, a post about the Affinitea Raise d Roof Run for a Cause 2015.
Like I said before in my previous running post, the biggest challenge in running is mental. It takes more will-power than muscles to move one leg in front of the other repeatedly for 5 or 10 or 21 or whatever kilometers. I’ve also gotten used to not listening to music while running so it’s mostly just me and the pavement. It gets a little monotonous, so I just think of a lot of stuff.
For kicks, I decided to keep track of the things I think about when I run. Maybe some of you can relate as well.
