Every race is unique and none are equal. They may cover the same route or distance, but they are rarely experienced the same way twice. And every once in a while, we runners experience a special race that leaves a lasting impression on us. The 2019 edition of the Amihan 50 Trail Ultra is one such race. And here are the reasons why…

Being born and raised in Negros Occidental, Dumaguete City is a familiar place that always gets mentioned by my family and friends. It serves as the Negros Oriental counterpart to our Bacolod City, but I didn’t know much about Mt. Talinis until about a year ago.
The tallest mountain (technically Volcano) in the region, and the 2nd tallest on Negros island after Mt. Kanlaon, Mt. Talinis is also known as Cuernos de Negros (horns of Negros) for its unique shape. This mountain is the venue for the Mt. Talinis Mountain Ultra Marathon and I was able to be attend its second edition. Here is my experience and review.

Because bebelabs is finishing her Asia Trail Master Grandmaster quest in Malaysia with the Penang Eco 100, I had a free weekend where I didn’t have anything planned. So I used it to finally hike a mountain I haven’t been to before, Mt. 387. This is my hike account.

It’s been a while since my last race report. After finishing the Mt. Apo Sky and Vertical race last month, I was ready to get some rest and relaxation away from the trails. But circumstances found me still out on the trails during the weekend. Not that I’m complaining! Here is a brief account of my experience in the recent Arriba Makariba 2019.
I recently bought a pair of the latest version of the New Balance Fresh Foam Hierro. This v4 was released early this 2019 and I couldn’t find a lot of reviews on it yet. But since it was stocked at the local shoe store, I had the time to fit it and was happy with how it caressed my foot. So I got the pair with the help of my friend Nik, and I broke it in on a fast hike through Mt. Ulap and an ultramarathon up Mt. Apo. Here are my impressions.
