After 4 years, I was able to return to my favorite mountain. This is a recount of my first hike since the pandemic; my comeback to Mt. Batulao (811 masl) in Nasugbu, Batangas.

Takbo: Conquer Jagged Peak 21km Batulao-Caleruega Reverse

Sunday
June 19, 2016

This day marked my most anticipated run for the year. It was a race through the trails of my favorite mountain, Mt. Batulao! I’ve been waiting for this race since 2015 when trail-running was just a pipe dream. Now that I’m more comfortable with the trails, I’m happy to say that this was my strongest finish for a trail run yet.

Akyat: Batulao Climb for a Cause

Saturday
April 9, 2016

I was blessed enough to be a contributor for a charity climb. I’ve always wanted to be of service to others, and being able to climb a mountain while doing it just seemed like the best possible scenario. This hike to my father mountain was for the benefit of the NHTA Center for Education in Cainta, Rizal.

Akyat: Nasugbu Quadrilogy, 4 peaks in 1 day

Friday
March 25, 2016

I don’t think I’ve ever missed an opportunity to announce that Mt. Batulao is my favorite climb. And to prove that, I’ve decided to visit it again. This time, I kept track of the itinerary and cost which I neglected to do on my first climb. So let’s dig in!

Akyat: Mt. Batulao

Saturday
March 14, 2015

I recently met a new friend who happened to be a veteran mountain climber (she has climbed 14 mountains!!), and after a few days of talking, I told her that I haven’t climbed a mountain ever since Pico de Loro and that I’m itching for a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. She invited me to climb Mt. Batulao, a really popular mountain that’s been popping up on my Facebook feed as well. Since I had no other plans for the weekend and I’m a big fan of spontaneity, I agreed. This post summarizes my experiences for that climb. (Image-heavy post ahead)
