Here’s my account of the 2019 Cordillera Mountain Ultra, a race I didn’t see myself running, and the events that led up to me finishing it. You can also read last year’s report for more on this race’s history.

One of my 2019 resolutions is to read more books. I used to be a bookworm during my youth, but smartphones and apps have really changed the face of the world. Fortunately, the convenience of smartphones can also be used for good. Swapping my mobile games for e-books, I got started on the first book of many for 2019.

This one is a really really really late review but I guess when it comes to shoes, the more mileage you put on them, the more credible your review will get. So after putting on around 250 kilometers on this pair, I can finally tell my experience with them. Let’s go.

I was a few meters past the 8-kilometer marker at the top of Mt. Kinabalu. I still had 700 meters to go before reaching Low’s Peak, the highest point of the mountain. Shivering, I flexed my numb fingers. I could see them move, but it had been a while since I had any feeling in them. Next, I pressed my hands beside my head to see if my ears haven’t fallen off from the cold yet. Is this the symptom of hypothermia? I thought to myself. Is this where I die?

Since I have no more races for the rest of the year, I decided to go back to my roots; hiking. It’s been a while since I hiked a new mountain. The last one was Mt. Halcon (Sialdang) back in holy week. So for this weekend, while Khat was training in Kibungan, I searched for an organized hike in the FB group CLIMBER. I finally decided on the semi-major hike in Tarlac, Mt. Damas.

On my daily commutes, music is one of those perks that make it more bearable. Since the beginning, I’ve been using wired earphones because I’ve found that Bluetooth ones have been very expensive. They rarely go below Php3,000 and the ones that do are usually from questionable Chinese brands with virtually no reviews. That was until I heard about the Mi Sport Bluetooth earphones. So I quickly got a pair and this is my quick unboxing and review.

I’ve been putting off writing this post because I’ll probably ramble on too much if given the chance. But this was just too good of an event to not put into writing. Plus I have already compiled all my pictures for the event, it would be such a waste for me to not post them here.
So without further ado, here is my account of the race, with lots of words and even more pictures.
