2017 was fast. The pages of my planner filled up quickly but I guess that’s what happens when you count the year with weekends. Looking back always makes the year seem so short. But living the days, that’s the hard part. Yet that’s also where our growth happens. Here’s a quick post about my year.

Marshal Duties: CM50 2017
It’s been a while since I’ve done some race photography and it’s my first time doing one for the trails. Since I was injured and lacked a lot of training, I officially became a race marshal/photographer in this year’s edition of the CM50.
Isip: Taking It Slow (I think I’m turning Japanese)
Everyone is stressed; that isn’t new. Life is beautiful, yes, but with it comes the burden of responsibilities and commitments and other stuff that all lead to stress. We’ve all got our own way of handling it, and recently, mine has been imagining myself as an elderly Japanese man in the countryside. It’s a strange way of coping but I find that it works well for me.

Takbo: 1st P2P 50/20km Challenge
Sunday
November 5, 2017
Hearing stories of the Mt. Pinatubo Circuit from friends, I’ve been interested in the place since way back. It just never became a priority and with most hikes taking place at the same time as other hikes, Pinatubo was a distant dream. So when the Pinatubo-master himself, Sir Jherry Guiao announced a new trail run along that route, I didn’t have second thoughts. Here’s my long and winding recap of the 1st edition of the Porac-Pinatubo 50km challenge.
Takbo: Deadman’s 300 V4.0
Sunday
October 15, 2017
T’was the night before Deadman’s and not a sound could be heard, because I was sound asleep with Khat in Rock Resort. Read on and you shall see, a long rundown of the experience for me.
Takbo: Miyamit Falls 42 2017
Sunday
October 1, 2017
This was one of my most anticipated trail runs of the year. The keyword there is “was.” After completing a 100km run earlier this April, I was looking forward to trying out the trails in Pampanga and hopefully get a grand slam with the MF42 and CM50 trail runs. Most of my harkor friends have already done this series and they said it’s a good experience and a must-do for trailrunners. Well, it certainly was an experience.
Akyat: Taal Crater via Tabaro Trail
Saturday
September 2, 2017
Finally! I have reached the crater lake in the famous Taal volcano. I’ve always passed by the volcano when going through Tagaytay, but I’ve never really put effort into going to it. Then on a free weekend, I saw my friend Enciong post about a hike to Taal, via a different route than the traditional “tourist trail.” I messaged him immediately to secure a spot. At first we were waitlisted, but then more slots opened up for Khat and me. Yay!
Gala: Siquijor + Apo Island Travelog

To take a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, Khat and I took a vacation in the Visayas region, more specifically in Dumaguete and Siquijor. In this post, I’m going to break down our itinerary along with the budget we had. Let’s go!
