Takbo: Marathon-athon 2016

Sundays,
July 31, 2016 & August 7, 2016

If you told me 2 years ago that I’d be running 21 kilometers straight, I would have laughed at you. If you told me 1 year ago that I’d be running a marathon, I still would have laughed at you. If you told me 1 month ago that I’d be running long distances for two consecutive weeks, then yup, I’d still be laughing at you. But that’s what happens in life. The things we find absurd or impossible turn out to be quite achievable, if we just push ourselves a bit.

Takbo: Conquer Jagged Peak 21km Batulao-Caleruega Reverse

Sunday
June 19, 2016

This day marked my most anticipated run for the year. It was a race through the trails of my favorite mountain, Mt. Batulao! I’ve been waiting for this race since 2015 when trail-running was just a pipe dream. Now that I’m more comfortable with the trails, I’m happy to say that this was my strongest finish for a trail run yet.

Akyat: Nasugbu Pentology: 5 peaks in 1 Day

On a scale just a little bit crazier than the Nasugbu Quadrilogy, I celebrated this year’s Independence day by going on a short hike with my trail friends up and down the many slopes of Nasugbu. This is a short summary of our Nasugbu Pentology.

Takbo: Mt. Sembrano Mountain Run 2016

Sunday
May 29, 2016

I knew I was gonna have a hard time when less than 3 kilometers into the race, I was already asking the Lord for forgiveness. Usually I only start talking to God during trail runs when I’m nearing the halfway point. The race director, DBB Delos Angeles wasn’t kidding at all when he called the race an uphill challenge.

Pitik: Nike Women’s Half Marathon

Sunday
May 15, 2016

If I had to describe the past two weekends, the only word I have in mind would be “run-tastic.” 2 weekends ago, I was the unofficial photographer for the Nike Women’s Half-Marathon. Read on for the gritty details.

Adversity introduces man to himself

This was running through my mind as I hopped over another river crossing, my socks drenched in sweat and water, and my head pounding from the searing heat. My feet felt like they weighed tons and my lips were dry and cracked, yet I still had about 13 kilometers to go. I was seriously doubting my ability to finish, but with a grandslam on the line, I powered on.

Warning: This is going to be a very long post. I have much feelings about this race.

Akyat: Mt. Balagbag and Panintingan Falls

Sunday
April 3, 2016

The initial plan was to go up the Helipad, take some pictures, and go down for a quick half-day climb. But things don’t always turn out the way you plan, and sometimes that’s a good thing! Here is the entry of our extended Mt. Balagbag climb this past weekend.
