Padyak: Timberland

Sunday
July 26, 2015

I’ve been contemplating on taking my biking to the next level. And ever since my previous rides with my biking group Godspeed Manila (please like and share), I’ve developed a fondness for road bikes. Now most of my cyclist friends have MTBs (hip term for mountain bikes) but going offroad isn’t much of a priority for me. I prefer hiking up mountains instead of biking up them, thank you.

So after much contemplation, I finally gave in to my wants and spent my hard-earned cash on a roadie! (hip term for roadbikes) This post is to commemorate her maiden voyage up Timberland heights.

Takbo: The 3 Stages of Running on my most Brutal 21km

Stages of running

I recently ran my most stressful and life-sapping half-marathon. I don’t know the exact reason why that run was deadlier than the others, but I have never wished to drop dead so many times in a single run. Kidding aside, I really had to dig deep just to finish. And through that run I was able to see some kind of pattern, a system, if you will, in the feelings I was going through. Let’s dig in.

Akyat: Hike Essentials

HikeEssentials-01

I’ve already posted about the Bike Essentials that everyone should check out when they’re about to start biking. Now that I’ve had a few mountains under my belt, I’ve decided to make a little infographic about hiking! Because I’ve only ever done dayhikes, the items listed are those I’ve had some experience with. For overnight hikes, I might make separate post for that once I’ve actually done one. So for now, here’s the EVERY-DAY-HIKE carry list!

Sunday,

I don’t usually blog about individual running events, but certain circumstances led to this particular run giving me a lot of feels. Feels that I think I need to somehow legibly organize in my mind. And to do that, writing them here would be helpful. So here we go, a post about the Affinitea Raise d Roof Run for a Cause 2015.

Akyat: Mt. Pamitinan and Mt. Binacayan

Thursday
July 2, 2015

According to Philippine folklore, mythical strongman Bernardo Carpio was trapped in between two mountains, forever forced to keep them from colliding with each other. Those two mountains, Mt. Pamitinan and Mt. Binacayan, are the subject of my first ever twin hike. Let’s go!

Isip: Off days

Having a bad day?

We humans aren’t invincible, as much as we want to be :(. There will be days where we won’t be up to our optimal performance, be it in fitness or even just in our daily activities. They can ruin our groove, destroy our momentum, and hold us back from reaching our true potential!

But fret not, because I, Jai, fitness extraordinaire and certified gym expert, will help you analyze this phenomenon so we can better tackle it the moment it shows its ugly face.

Isip: What do you think about when you run?

Running Thoughts

Like I said before in my previous running post, the biggest challenge in running is mental. It takes more will-power than muscles to move one leg in front of the other repeatedly for 5 or 10 or 21 or whatever kilometers. I’ve also gotten used to not listening to music while running so it’s mostly just me and the pavement. It gets a little monotonous, so I just think of a lot of stuff.

For kicks, I decided to keep track of the things I think about when I run. Maybe some of you can relate as well.

Akyat: Mt. Talamitam

Sunday
June 14, 2015

As if I didn’t get enough of my Mt. Manabu climb the day before, I spontaneously planned another climb with a friend. This time, it would be on Mt. Talamitam, a mountain that I’ve heard is also another easy climb. Packaged with the climb is a quick swim at the Layong Bilog river. So without further ado, here is the second part of my Back-to-Back Bundok weekend!
